RLEF selects Alan Chmielewski to referee upcoming Canada vs Jamaica International

The USARL is proud to announce that Co-Director of the newly formed North America Match Officials Association (NAMOA), Alan Chmielewski, has been appointed by the Rugby League European Federation (RLEF) to be the center Match Official for the upcoming Canada vs Jamaica International Match to be held in Toronto, ON, Sunday July 31, 2011.

Alan commenced his Rugby career as a player with Shippensburg University Men's Rugby Football Club, 1996 - 2000, then had 8 years with the Media Rugby Football Club. He has also been assistant coach for Temple University Men's Rugby for several seasons and coached their squad in the June 2011 Collegiate Rugby 7's Tournament. While at Media he was playing Rugby League during the summer months, firstly with Philadelphia Bulldogs (2000), then Media/Delaware Valley Mantarays (2001/06). 

Rugby League presented Alan with international experience and opportunities when he gained 5 caps with the Tomahawks, including tours to Russia and Australia, representing the USA from 2001 to 2006.

With a focus on Rugby League in 2007, Alan was appointed Captain of the Philadelphia Fight Rugby League Club (2007/08). In 2008 he took up refereeing. Alan has officiated as a touch-judge at the 2010 Atlantic Cup in Florida.

In May 2011 Alan attended the RLEF International Match Official Tutors Course conducted by the RLEF and in June successfully completed the RFL Match Officials Foundation Course with flying colors. He is an accredited RLEF/USARL match official. NAMOA is an affiliate of the USA Rugby League (USARL) and conducts match official courses on behalf of the USARL and RLEF.
