Round 5 around the grounds

The 2nd half of the season and Round 5 gets underway this weekend with some great match-ups including the battle for first place between two undefeated teams.

Titans celebrate the return of Chris Otundo

Fight vs Slayers
An undefeated Philadelphia Fight travel to the nations capital to take on this years surprise packet also unbeaten (4-0) D.C. Slayers.  The winner will secure either team a playoff spot and put them in the drivers seat for a home ground advantage in the semifinals.  The Slayers have been breathing fire with import Five-Eighth Aaron Cook guiding them around the park and also leading the league in scoring.  The Fight are coming off an incredible victory over last years champions Jacksonville Axemen (first regular season loss since 2009) but are without Captain Ryan Douglas until the playoffs.  The game kicks off 2:30pm this Saturday at Slayers home ground Duke Ellington Field.

New Haven Warriors vs Oneida FC
Oneida's first victory celebrations may be short lived as they visit a motivated New Haven Warriors who are determined to stay in the playoff hunt despite several of the new franchises chasing them for 4th spot.  New Haven may not have lived up to their early season hype but should be out to prove both to themselves and their fans they are more than making up the numbers come finals time.  Look for a big game from Hooker Taruean Sheehan who should relish controlling the rucks for Warriors while Oneida could still surprise a few with the "minute men" of UMass in Chappell, Hoopes, Risler & Gillespie who have taken to Rugby League like they have been playing it for years. The game kicks off 3:00pm this Saturday at Warriors home ground Ken Strong Stadium.

Titans vs Axemen
Still smarting from their shock loss against Philadelphia, the Axemen have even bigger problems with a injury toll that resembles more of a hospital ward with a total of ten players unable for this weekends clash against the Titans.  New Jersey are not without their own problems with a number of injuries to key players including powerhouse forward Moey Alhaje who is struggling to be match ready.  All is not lost for the Titans as they celebrate the return Chris Otundo who was a standout at this years 9s tournament playing his first game back since the event.  A win for the Titans will keep them well within the hunt for a playoff berth and on target for a Round 8 showdown with the Warriors that could well decide 4th spot.  The game kicks off 3:30pm at Titans home ground JFK Field in Jersey City.

Rebellion vs Boston 13s
The Rebellion fresh off celebrating their first ever win may go two for two against a winless Boston team that at this stage are playing for pride with their finals hopes well and truly out of reach.  The Rebellion stocks are on the rise as they have quickly adjusted to the 13 code Rugby and are unlucky not to be higher on the ladder with some tough losses against the Slayers and Warriors team.  A win will put them in 5th spot and on a collision with the Warriors in Round 7 that will likely decide their post season fate.  The game kicks off 8:00pm at RIR home ground Classical High School.  Look for the game to be streamed live at
