Fight looking for repeat titles

The 2011 USARL National Champions Philadelphia Fight will have their work cut for them if they are to produce back-to-back championships.
Fight looking for repeat titles

Philadelphia FightWinning last years title not only put them in them in the spotlight but their run through to the Championship Final left a sour taste in a few teams mouths that have placed a target on their back for 2012.

It all started last year in Round 4 at home when a scrappy Fight team did the impossible and defeated the redhot Jacksonville in one of the best games of the season.  Struggling with injuries, Round 6 saw a team of league novices travel north to the physical Warriors and steal victory in the dying seconds.

Those two key victories were critical getting them into the playoffs where on the road they faced off against an easily favored DC Slayers.  In torrential conditions, they Fight were electric producing some of the most exciting plays on the season propelling them into the Championship Final.  Aided by an even bigger upset with the underdog Warriors defeating the Axemen, the final saw two heavyweights battle it out in another classic encounter.

In the end, Philadelphia took home the silverware in front of a parochial home crowd that weathered the storm both on and off the field.

In 2012, the Philadelphia Fight will play on a new home ground at YCS Sports in King of Prussia while their current home “A. A. Garthwaite” Stadium undergoes redevelopment getting it ready for 2013.

Whether it’s home or away, the Fight can expect a number of teams to remember key results that could have changed their fortunes instead of becoming a chapter in Philadelphia’s path to glory.

The Fight kickoff their season at home against the Rhode Island Rebellion on 5pm Sat June 2 at YSC Sports in Wayne.
