USARL Season V Round 1 officially kicks off this weekend
USARL Season V officially kicks off this weekend with the largest Rugby League competition spanning 14 teams from Boston all the way to Tampa, Florida.
With the launch of Season V, much spotlight has been placed on addition of four clubs into the North Conference. Most notably is the return of the New York Knights and Connecticut Wildcats – two teams that have a history of success in Rugby League.
Round 1 action this weekend.
In the South, the Central Florida Warriors take on the Jacksonville Axemen at Spec Martin Stadium - Deland, FL with both clubs hoping to get first points.
In the Mid-Atlantic, Bucks County Sharks play host to the traveling Northern Virginia Eagles in what will be a good early challenge for the Sharks in their first year of USARL competition. In DC, the Fight begin their quest for a threepeat Championship against their old foes and neighboring rivals DC Slayers.
Hours north, the New York, the Knights make a return to Randall's Island coming up against a Boston 13s outfit that may surprise many this year. Hours following at Randalls Island, new rivals Brooklyn Kings take on Rhode Island Rebellion in what will be a key points for both clubs later in the season.
Rounding out the weekend’s final fixture is Delaware Black Foxes taking on highly confident Connecticut Wildcats in what many are expecting to be the surprise team coming out of the northern group. A number of eyes will also be watching the Delaware Black Foxes who are looking to surprise some of their neighboring teams in the coming season. The Black Foxes will be led by former Fight enforcer Kevin Wiggins who was a key member of the 2014 Championship Philadelphia Fight team.
