Philadelphia face Jacksonville in Championship Final (Aug 27th) after defeating Boston 33-24 in overtime.
Boston to host 2016 Championship Game

The Fight’s biggest crowd of the year were thrilled and entertained by a bruising and thrilling encounter that saw Philadelphia hold to win in overtime after a miraculous comeback by Boston.

The game was not without controversy after Boston played a majority of the game down to twelve men after Liam Georgetown was red carded by Referee Alan Chmielewski for punching Philadelphia’s Louis Tullio. Georgetown was MVP of Boston’s 2015 Championship final and in scintillating form playing since arriving mid season. Georgetown typically playing at fullback shifted to a pivotal role normally accompanied by Dustin Cooper who was sidelined with injury.

At half-time the Fight were leading 14-8 quickly extending it further after Mike Timpano scored in the corner followed by a successful conversion from out wide making it 20-8 to the Fight. With the game seeming slipping away from Boston, the 13s forwards continued to attack the Philadelphia line before a number of opportunities saw Boston score back-to-back with both conversions successful.

Boston continued to carry a bulk of the possession but several missed opportunities losing the ball over the try line failed to see them perform a miracle comeback. Although Boston was successful at taking the game to overtime, Philadelphia found fresh legs and regained their form controlling most of extra time scoring twice followed by a field goal. Final score: 33-24.

Philadelphia Fight take on the Jacksonville Axemen who defeated the Atlanta Rhinos 38-28 to win the SOUTH Conference.
