US ASSOCIATION OF RUGBY LEAGUE OFFICIAL

We are going to put two Rugby Teams in an Italian Eatery, with an Irish Pub atmosphere, in the USA.

Due to the unfortunate closing of Famous Tim’s in Wilmington, the post-game venue for the Oct. 1st Rugby League Colonial Cup, which will be played at Eden Park Stadium, has moved to Gallucio’s Italian Pub & Restaurant. (1709 Lovering Ave).
We are going to put two Rugby Teams in an Italian Eatery, with an Irish Pub atmosphere, in the USA.

“We never want to see any local business close,” said Delaware Black Foxes CEO Bjorn Haglid. “This is our community, and our players and fans live here, so to see Famous Tim’s close is not good news. However it has shown the community spirit and support to help bring events into our town. Gallucio’s is literally next door to Famous Tim’s, and for them to step up for us was a real display of doing whatever it takes, to keep all facets of this international event completely within Wilmington.”

One of the key parts of an International Rugby League event, is being able to be good hosts for the visiting nation. USA Rugby League and the Delaware Black Foxes are determined to show Canada they are a welcome and valued guest not only to the United States, but especially in Delaware. “To have the support shown by Gallucio’s at such short notice, speaks volumes they are excited to help bring this type of event to our community,” Haglid said.

USA Rugby League wants to ensure all our fans and supporters are aware of the venue change, and also that everyone attending the game knows they are invited to join the teams for the post-game social, and help show our Northern neighbors they are very welcome guests.

Gallucio’s is Delaware’s best Italian Eatery with an Irish Pub atmosphere. They are located on 1709 Lovering Avenue in Wilmington, Delaware, and have been a casual gathering place serving delicious pizza and traditional Italian dishes to local families, friends, sports teams and business groups alike for the past 45 years.

“In addition to the importance of the game itself, in having the national teams from Canada and the USA compete for this annual trophy, there is also an economic impact that comes with it,” said USA Rugby League PR director, Steve Williams. “Both teams will use a hotel in Delaware, players always spend money on extra meals and various practice and game items, and the post game venue is located in the local area as well. We know a number of fans from the DC and Philly areas will make the drive across the state line, and there will also be some international media attending the game. It all adds up to bring attention, and dollars, to the area.”

The fact the national teams of the USA and Canada, will be hosted in an Italian Restaurant, which has an Irish Pub theme, and all happing in Delaware, is not lost of how multicultural the post-game event will be. No matter the game result, the social event is sure to be fun.
