Competition leaders DC Slayers came back to the field after their defeat to the Jacksonville Axemen, 16 - 36. All 3 teams sit on 12 competition points with the Fight leading the standings by 'for and against' percentages.

The Fight found the heat not an issue on Saturday when they skipped out to 20 - 0 lead by the end of the 1st quarter and 42 - 0 at the half-time break. Their try-line was only crossed the once, in the 3rd quarter.

Although he didn't contribute to the 15 tries and 10 goals that were scored, hooker Dave Wilmore took out the Man of the Match award, the 3rd time this season, for his non-stop contribution to the game in continually halting the Titans attack and grinding his way up-field from the ruck throughout the game.

By the time the teams took the field after the half-time break, winger Mike 'Squirrel' Timpano, centre Pat Quirk and half-back Joel Weeks had put their stamp on another top performance. Timpano, returning from a sternum injury that kept him from last weeks game, finished with 28 points from 3 tries and 8 goals, Quirk with 12 points from 3 great tries and Weeks finished with 12 points from 1 try and 4 goals.

Other try scorers were centre, John Evangelista (2), after finding himself in the open on many occasions, fullback, Sean Staunton (1), who mixed up his game from fullback to dummy-half and front-line defender, winger Jared Frymoyer (1) was at his usual best and unselfish in taking to the bench for long periods to allow his fellow team mates some field-time, journeyman Mike Kelly (1) had a sound game starting in the center's, five-eighth Rich Henson (1) started from the bench then got into some good rhythm, last week's new comer to the club, Jeff Bascelli (1), played another solid game in the forwards and utility interchange, Joe Henson (1) had his usual solid performance playing both in the backs and forwards.

Prop-forwards James Coleman and Skipper Matt Webster along with second-row Joe Bascelli were in the thick of it all day and provided a good platform for the rest of the team to take advantage of the lesser skilled opposition.

Although the day was a hot one, the Fight players were excited to see the response from their family, friends and supporters turn up and watch, not only their performance, but another great performance and display from the the Fight Vixen's. Lead by Director & Head Coach Heather Grasso, along with co-captains Meghan and Maggie, the girls have displayed tremendous support for the Fight throughout the season.

Next weekend the Fight are on the road again to Jacksonville, FL, for their final performance prior to the semi-finals. 18 players will accompany Coach Peter Illfield and Club Doctor Jack Kazanjian to take on the Axemen.

The game will be available for viewing through live streaming video at 5pm, July 30.
