Axemen have eyes on champions of the North
The Jacksonville Axemen will have the chance to add to their 2012 USARL title as they became the first team to reach the 2014 Championship game; with either the Boston 13s or the Philadelphia Fight joining them on their own stomping ground in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Axemen have had a solid season and made their way to the Championship game after defeating the Central Florida Warriors 40-12 in the South Conference Championship game. The Warriors put up a valiant effort in their first season in the USARL and are definitely a team to watch in the coming seasons.
Axemen Coach, Mat Keeley stated that Apple Pope has stood out for the Jacksonville outfit all year. He told the Axemen’s official facebook: “I can’t count how many hit-ups and tackles he made... We have some great leaders on this team and Apple Pope is one of the best and leads by example in every game.”
Having been founded as an expansion team to the AMNRL in 2006 by Daryl ‘Spinner’ Howland and Drew Slover, the Axemen reached the AMNRL playoffs in 2006, 2008 and 2009 before winning the 2010 AMNRL Championship. They then joined the USARL competition and are more than pleased to have the chance to win another Championship on Saturday August 23rd
The two sides fighting to join the Axemen are the unbeaten, 9s winners, Philadelphia Fight and the 2012 finalists the Boston 13s. The Fight have been dominant this year and will be going into the game against the 13s on the back of a huge 76-0 victory over the DC Slayers but the 13s will be looking to beat the Fight and face the Axemen again as they did in the 2012 Championship final.
The 13s will be looking to gain retribution on the Axemen’s home turf after falling at the final hurdle in 2012 losing to the Jacksonville 28-22 when the 13s had home advantage. No matter who makes it to the final, it has been an amazing season with a lot of talent on show. The best thing? It’s not over yet. Keep up to date with the remaining games as they are sure to be hard hitting, fast paced and exciting.
