Pride. passion. commitment.

The Atlanta Rhinos were founded in 2014 as an expansion club to help create the SERL (Southeastern Rugby League) within the USARL.  The Rhinos conception was spearheaded by Axemen Owners Darryl “Spinner” Howland and Drew Slover along with the local Atlanta Renegades Union team and their ownership team of Bob Taylor and Randall Joseph. Atlanta has expanded the presence of Rugby in this southern hub to now include the 13 man code of Rugby League.

The Rhinos name was chosen as an honor to the iconic Leeds Rhinos of the UK Super League. We are the sister club of the team overseas and are proud to wear a similar Rhinos logo.  Leeds has been a great supporter of the team having fans of the Rhinos in both the USA and UK has really helped grow the team into a worldwide club.  We take the passion and commitment to win that the Leeds Rhinos have and have transferred that same attitude to the team in Atlanta.  Charging On with the Rhinos has become a slogan that both teams use to recognize the commitment to Rugby League and the great will to succeed.

The Rhinos operation is currently run by Bob Taylor and Captain of the team Nick Newlin, along with Salesi Tongamoa and help from multiple players. The Rhinos made it to the 2015 Grand Final in only the 2nd year of existence and look to build on the early success by recruiting players from all over the south. The Rhinos currently have an active member on the USARL Hawks National team that is qualified to play in the 2017 World Cup, Team Captain Nick Newlin (4 caps), Terrence Williams (2 caps).

The team practices Wednesday/Friday in Cobb County outside of Atlanta and plays home games at Atlanta Silverback’s park at the intersection of I-285 and I-85.  We are always looking for committed volunteers to help with Game Day operations and other facets of making the club a successful one.

Venue:  Atlanta Silverback’s Park (3200 Atlanta Silverbacks Way, Atlanta, GA 30340)
