Warriors looking to take one step further in 2011

New Haven, Connecticut – Already regarded as one of the best attacking sides in the competition, the New Haven Warriors have further bolstered their ranks by picking up hooker Taruean Sheehan for the 2011 season.

Originally from New Zealand and currently playing out of Perth, Australia. Taurean played two seasons for the re-formed Western Australia Reds in the Bundaberg Cup Competition, captaining the team in 2009.  In 2010 he played locally for the Joondalup Giants, his junior club.  Subsequently, he went on to tour with the state rep team, as well as with the Australian Affiliated States team during a tour to Samoa.

Sheehan is currently playing for Rochdale Mayfield in Manchester along with other Warriors recruit and former Boston 13’s player Andrew ‘Suzzie’ Maroney.

Sheehan will play at hooker alongside with Maroney at front row. Joining them both in the forwards will be another WA Reds players James McGowan.

Warriors CEO Adam Hamon says “This year the Warriors camp are on a mission, we want the inaugural USARL Championship and we believe we have the final pieces in the puzzle to make it a reality".  This will be put to the test immediately as Round 1 will see them square off in a rematch of last years Championship Final where the Jacksonville Axmen walked away winners in a bruising encounter.

The rematch of last year's final game is scheduled to be played on June 4 at the UNF Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.
