PCRL, USARL, URLA joint statement

Pacific Coast Rugby League, USA Rugby League, and the Utah Rugby League Association regretfully announce that the Provo Broncos have been stripped of the PCRL championship title due to a breach of league rules during the PCRL championship game held in Santa Rosa on August 12th, where they knowingly fielded an ineligible player.

The PCRL executive committee, board members, and members of the USARL board and URLA representatives deliberated on the appropriate course of action for this difficult decision. Emphasizing the importance of upholding the integrity of the league, and as articulated in the PCRL rules and regulations, this decision will mean that the Broncos will not compete in the USARL national championship game on August 26.

Following league rules and with the agreement and cooperation of both USARL and URLA,  the forfeit by the Broncos means that the Santa Rosa Dead Pelicans will take the place of the Provo team and challenge the Jacksonville Axemen for the national championship in Florida. This unexpected turn of events highlights the critical role that rules and their observance play in maintaining the fairness and competitiveness of the sport.
