Slayers vs Fight battle for 1st and playoffs advantage

5pm Saturday (9th July) sees the biggest game of the year so far when two giants go head to head, when the unstoppable force meets the immoveable object, as the D.C Slayers travel to the Philadelphia Fight.
Slayers vs Fight battle for 1st and playoffs advantage

Both teams have been in great form this season securing 5 wins from 5 games with the Slayers heading into this fixture on the back of an emphatic 86-12 victory over the Baltimore Blues. The Fight, on the other hand, secured a very impressive 52-30 victory over a strong Boston 13s side at the Irish Cultural Center, meaning confidence and moral will be high in both camps ahead of the clash at the A.A Garthwaite Stadium.

The Fight will be looking for another stellar performance from five-eighth and captain, Rich Henson after his inspiring season so far. In the Boston game Henson was voted as MVP based on his strong defensive performance and ability to muster his troops regardless of the situation they find themselves in. A game with two unbeaten sides could see it being low scoring and conversions could make all the difference, therefore the Slayers will be relying on Andrew Guthrie to bring his kicking boots once again after his great showing in the victory of Baltimore.

The reward for a victory here could see the winner having home advantage in the play offs which will help as both teams work towards their ultimate goal, reaching, and winning, the final in Jacksonville on August 23rd. It is sure to be a great game whoever manages to do the impossible and come out on top. Who will see their 100% record taken away?
