After the long trip the 13s started the game poorly and were 12-0 down within the first six minutes. However, quickly bounced back to 12-6 with a try to standout front rower Joe Coletta.

Three injuries within the first 25 minutes really took their toll and left the remaining soldiers to face an uphill battle. A battle played out in 100+ degree temperatures.

The Eagles, led by impressive import, Roy Bell, were solid with their play and added two more tries to take a 24-6 half time lead.

The Thirteens refused to go down without a fight, battling well throughout the second half.

Halfback, Kiwa Oakes, was pulling the strings on offense and worked well with hooker, Conor Leahy, to give the offense some direction. Oakes scored 12 points in the second half (1 try, 3 goals), with second rower’s, Ed Guitton and Derek Morin, scoring the others.

The Eagles managed three tries of their own in the second half, all converted by Bell, to take the win with a final score of 42-24.

Boston will now look to get back in the winners circle this coming weekend when they travel to the 2-0 New York Knights. Kick off is 6pm at Randall’s Island for what could be a classic!
