Originally the New York Broncos, the Knights was founded and joined the AMNRL for its inaugural 1998 season. They adopted their current name in 2001 after forming a team partnership with the NewCastle Knights of Australia’s National Rugby League. Since their inception the team has made a numerous of playoff appearances, and won the AMNRL Grand Final in 2002, 2009, 2011 and 2012.  In 2015, the New York Knights joined the USA Rugby League participating in the North-east Division.
