The Fight piled on 6 unanswered tries in the first 2 quarters to lead 34-0 at the half-time break. Game maker and game breaker, five-eighth Tom Dawney from Australia, set up his countryman and 2nd-rower, Jackson Springer, on several occasions destroying the Slayers defense. Dawney would then appear beside Springer to collect the final pass for 3 demoralizing tries. Dawney finish with 4 tries and 16 points in total for the match.

Springer, having the hand in 3 of Dawney's tries, also scored 1 himself. Those penetrating and damaging runs combined with some bold defensive efforts, especially on the Fight's try-line, earned him the coach's MVP, just ahead of Dawney's effort which earned him, Players Player.

Winger, Mike 'Squirrel' Timpano, had another extraordinary game, booting 6 goals from 7 attempts, while racing away for 2 breathtaking tries to finish with a personal of 20 points for the day.

Fullback, Patrick Quirk, recovered from a shaky first quarter and posted 2 tries against the Slayers, converting one of his tries for a tally of 10 points. Centre, John Lyons muscled his way over for a solo effort 4 pointer.

The Fight travel to Manassas, Va, to take on the Northern Virginia Eagles at 4.00pm next Saturday.
